How Tranche
works.
Tranche is a crowdfunding platform where contributions are held in escrow and released in slices. A campaign defines its milestones up front: a description, a share of the funds, and a deadline. Creators evidence each milestone with a public post on X, and backers vote on whether it counts.
Nothing about that requires you to know how a blockchain works. You can contribute with a card, you never hold a network token, and network costs are paid by Tranche.
How escrow works
Each campaign gets its own vault. Contributions go straight into it and the creator cannot withdraw from it. The vault only pays out when a milestone vote passes, and it only pays the share that milestone declared.
Tranche cannot release funds on its own. The rules live in the vault contract, and the only way to change a campaign's milestones after launch is a backer vote.
Milestones and proof
A campaign needs between two and six milestones, and their shares must add up to 100%. Each milestone carries a deadline. When the work is done, the creator submits the link to a post on X; Tranche checks the post came from the campaign's linked handle and mirrors its content so the proof survives deletion.
Voting rules
Only backers of that campaign can vote, and their weight is proportional to what they contributed. A release needs a simple majority of votes cast and at least 60% of backers to have voted at all. You can change your vote until the window closes.
More than 50% of the weight cast must approve.
Under 60% turnout, the vote is held over for one more window.
Not voting counts towards neither side but does reduce turnout.
Refunds
Refunds cover whatever is still in the vault, split by contribution. A campaign that misses its funding goal returns everything. A campaign that fails at milestone three returns what milestones three and four would have paid; already-released tranches are not clawed back.
Fees and network costs
Tranche takes 2.5% of each released tranche, charged at release rather than up front, so a campaign that never releases is never charged. Network fees on Robinhood Chain are sponsored: contributing, voting, and claiming a refund cost you nothing beyond the amount you contribute.
